The names of these prisoners, from the Arab minority, are Qais Obaidavi, 25, B.A. in Law, his 20-year-old brother Ahmad Obaidavi, and their cousin Sajjad Obaidavi, a law student. They are charged with so-called “Moharebeh (enmity against God)” and “corruption on Earth.”

TEHRAN — Iran’s judiciary unleashed one of its periodic crackdowns on social media permissiveness on Sunday, announcing the arrest of eight people involved in online modeling without a mandatory head scarf and questioning another woman, a former model, live on state television on Sunday.

A blogger, Mehdi Abutorabi, 53, who managed a publishing tool called Persian Blog, was also detained, the semiofficial student news agency ISNA reported Monday.

The former model, Elham Arab, 26, had been something of an Instagram star, posting pictures of herself in bridal gowns with eye-catching, dyed-blond hair. But on Sunday, months after her Instagram account had been shut down, she wore a pious black scarf and matching gloves as she was questioned by two prosecutors during a live television program.

Human Rights Groups Condemn Journalists Prison Sentences in Iran

CAIRO—U.S. human rights groups are condemning the sentences imposed by an Iranian court on four journalists who were arrested late last year. The four were accused of “paving the way for U.S. infiltration of the country.”

The Iranian judiciary has handed down sentences of five to 10 years in prison to the journalists who were arrested last November in the period leading up to parliamentary elections.

State media reported another acid attack in Iran on Tuesday, April 26^th targeting a young woman in Tehran’s Vanak Square.

This young woman suffered 3^rd degree burns in her hands, face and back, and is in need of numerous surgeries which have yet to begin, according to the president of Tehran’s Mottahari Hospital chief.

The motive behind this crime remains unknown, yet considering similar cases of acid attacks taking place in various cities against women and girls, the state paramilitary Bassij and plainclothes agents loyal to Khamenei have most definitely committed this crime. These operatives have never faced any judicial action or punishment by the mullahs’ regime in Iran.

Iran: Over 5,000 retired Isfahan steel mill workers rally outside parliament

According to reports received from Tehran, from 7 am on Sunday, April 17^th around, 4,000 retired Isfahan steel mill workers – some with their families – rallied outside the Iranian regime’s parliament. The number of protesters increased by the minute, reaching 5,000 by 10 am. Reports say the rally continued for two days up to now.

The protesters demanded their unpaid pensions and retirement benefits.

The city of Tehran is considered one of the most polluted cities in the world, and most reports from inside the regime have described conditions in this city as many times more difficult than tolerable norms.

In this regard a group of environment activists in Tehran made a call to hold their April 1^st gathering in Baharestan Square:

On April 1^st we will gather at Baharestan Square in a rally for the environment. We will be in reconciliation with our trees, the jungles and all the greens.

We hope for more secure cities, with less smoke and trash. We hope for an Iran full of children laughing.

We have chosen Baharestan Square, with the name of spring (Bahar in Persian), the name of life being reborn. Let’s hope a bill will be adopted in support of the greens in the most important building of this square.

This is an Iranian regime element who has written misogynist remarks on his vehicle promoting sexual discrimination in public.

It is worth noting that the so-called police of this regime showed no reaction in this regard, allowing such issues to be fanned day by day. Of course, the reason behind such measures is obvious for us. The mullahs’ regime itself is behind the misogyny phenomenon in Iran, acid attacks and beating women in public under various pretexts, including not abiding by strict clothing regulations. This social corruption has roots in the mullahs’ reactionary ideology.

Ahwaz South East of Iran – State suppressive forces raided a restaurant on Saturday March 26th and arrested about 20 youths. In another event government forces government forces savagely stormed the "enghelab" district at midnight and arrested a number of youths. All Detainees were taken to an unknown location. Questions made by families about the conditions and whereabouts of their loved ones were left unanswered.

After the recent antigovernment rallies and protest in Ahwaz which ended up in clashes between people and the security forces, government is using arrests and intimidations to extinguish the demonstrations.

Political prisoners ask the UN to investigate Iran’s human rights dossier

Nine political prisoners of Gohardasht prison, in Karaj, north of the capital Tehran, have written an open letter and expressed their support for Ahmad Shaheed, the UN special Rapporteur’s report on human rights violations in Iran. 

The letter reads in part, “we the political prisoners not only reiterate and support the contents of this report, but also ask the UN to investigate Iran’s human rights dossier independent of the its’ nuclear and state terrorism files.”

Iran: Friends & relatives commemorate Martyr Kianoosh Assaa, at his birthday

Kianoosh Assaa, a student at Tehran’s 

“Elm-o-Sanaat” university, was kidnapped and murdered, by agents of Mullahs’ regime, during the 2009 mass uprising. At his birthday, early this month, his friends and relatives gathered at his grave in Kermanshah, Kianoosh’s home town, to commemorate his memory.

Many years ago, back in third grade I read a short story titled “The Last Lesson” from a story collection titled “Last Monday” by a French Author who I do not recall the name. Whole book is about the author’s first hand experience living under Nazis role during the German invasion of France as a kid. “The Last Lesson” describes in details the last French class before the enforcement of Nazi law of ban on teaching French in French schools. This young man described with honesty and in moving words, his emotions, his sorrow and his chagrin for not being able to freely use his mother tongue and praise his national culture. After close to four decades I can still remember how I was affected and cried as I was reading the story.

Her name was Ashraf Fadaii. She was born in 1960. Her sentence had ended in 1986, but the authorities were still keeping her in prison.

Her pretty face was a heavenly gate to her beautiful soul. She was a comrade and a lovely friend. I was her cellmate in 1982, in the ward 8 of Ghezel-Hesar prison (Karaj). Towards the end of that year she was transferred to solitary confinement in Gohardasht prison in Karaj. 

Iran- A government agent expresses his protests to the country’s authorities.

 Mohammad Najafi, a lawyer affiliated with the Mullahs government, has spoken against the government while speaking in a mosque in his home town of Shazand in the center of Iran. Najafi condemned government officials for their treason, corruption, grafts, impoverishing the people, and spending the wealth of Iranian people in Syria and Iraq.

Speaking in the last week of elections campaign at a memorial ceremony for a Shazand worker, who committed suicide by hanging himself, Najafi criticized His Eminence the Supreme Leader. The audience upheld Najafi’s words by their frequent “Salavats” (Salute for prophet Mohammad, as it is a custom in Muslim mosques).
