Iran: regime agents round up satellite dishes in eastern Tehran

Repressive police rounding up, destroying satellite dishes

Repressive police in Iran are continuing their crackdown campaign in eastern Tehran by rounding up satellite dishes from people’s homes. These agents raided people’s residences and climbed their walls to round up satellite dishes and confiscating the LNBs.

These repressive measures of rounding up satellite dishes is a clear sign of the mullahs’ utter fear of the general public being informed of the news. This campaign has been repeated time and again by the mullahs’ crackdown entities in various cities across the country. However, not only have satellite TV viewers increased in Iran, according to the regime’s sate media, more and more people are referring to satellite TV networks for their news and entertainment.

IRANIAN PRISONER KNOWN AS A LEADING LADY FOR JOURNALIST

In a ceremony in Paris on May 2, Reporters Without Borders declared four journalists to be heroes and heroines of 2016; amongst them was Ms. Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian political prisoner, lawyer, and human rights activist.
During this ceremony, Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo expressed her support for all those who work for freedom of expression. She presented City of Paris medals to the chosen journalists and praised their endeavors, saying that the gates of the French capital will always be open to them.

Mohammadi has been arrested many times for her human rights activities. She was last arrested on 5 May 2015 at her home by judicial security agents without prior notice and was transferred to the notorious Evin Prison in northern Tehran. The arrest initiated a six-year prison sentence that had already been handed down in March 2011.

IRAN: ROUHANI BACKS ONGOING EXECUTIONS AND HARSH PUNISHMENTS

The UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran has indicated that in 2015 alone, the regime carried out executions of at least 966 people. Groups like the NCRI have been keeping track of hangings so far this year and have seen similar trends. The NCRI indicates that at least 55 people were executed in the month of April alone, and that another 10 were hanged in just the first three days of May.

Most of the victims of this capital punishment are reportedly non-violent drug offenders. Meanwhile, some individuals are condemned to death in Iran for offenses that would not be recognized as crimes in other modern nations. Many of these are vaguely defined under terms like “enmity against God,” which clearly reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to its theocratic identity.

Details on Iran’s attempts to abduct pilot who fled to Turkey

Plot to kidnap runaway Iranian pilot in Turkey (file photo)

The Saudi-based Al Arabiya TV aired new details of an attempt by two Iranian Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS/VEVAK) agents in Turkey to abduct a pilot, Major Ahmed Reza Khosravi.
“Due to the difference in beliefs I had with the establishment, and because I did not believe in the system, and due to my occupation I was forced to do things my commanders asked me to do, including taking part in religious ceremonies that I had no belief in. I was also against the state’s policies, because these policies are based on deluding the people, duplicity and lies. Another issue that led to my resignation and fleeing from Iran was that all my work, personal life and anything I said was always controlled and under surveillance. I had no freedom in my personal life and even my wife’s telephone was under surveillance. I was truly bothered by these measures,” he said in this regard.

Northern Iran: Group letter of communications/electricity workers to World Labor Organization

To Mr. Guy Ryder Secretary-General of the World Labor Organization
Greetings,
We congratulate you and all workers of our country on International Labor Day, especially those working tirelessly and risking their lives on a daily basis in electricity systems and installing electricity and communications towers. These workers are separated from their families for many months of the year to make ends meet and not be left ashamed before their families.
We would like to inform you that we work in very difficult conditions, at times 13 to 15 hours a day at heights of 30 to 300 meters, while we lack any life insurance and our salaries are stolen. With a monthly salary of only $300 dollars we cannot have a decent meal. On Labor Day we are requesting that you be our voice. Currently, our country’s money is spent on terrorist projects, killing innocent people in Syria, Iraq and European countries.
Mr. Secretary-General,
Any appeasement vis-à-vis Khamenei or Rouhani is a crime against humanity. We are requesting from you to distance yourself from these criminals and condemn this anti-human and anti-labor regime for its human rights violations.
