Iran: Over 5,000 retired Isfahan steel mill workers rally outside parliament

According to reports received from Tehran, from 7 am on Sunday, April 17th around, 4,000 retired Isfahan steel mill workers – some with their families – rallied outside the Iranian regime’s parliament. The number of protesters increased by the minute, reaching 5,000 by 10 am. Reports say the rally continued for two days up to now.
The protesters demanded their unpaid pensions and retirement benefits.


Large placards raised by the retired workers read:
We demand the following:
1. Receiving our retirement pensions on time
2. Receiving our retirement benefits (we have not received various benefits from 2011 forward)
3. Resolving our medical problems and such expenses
 According to reports from Tehran, hundreds of special anti-riot units and plain clothes agents were dispatched from 8:30 am on Sunday, April 17th. These oppressive units were seen preventing people and vehicles from stopping near the protest site.
