 Paris streets witness images of Khamenei as enemy of press freedom

Images of Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei has been posted in the streets of Paris as press freedom enemy #1.

Marking ‘Press Freedom Day’, Reporters Sans Frontiers launched a campaign on Tuesday, May 3^rd condemning regimes oppressing press and media freedoms.

A French graphic company has for the fifth consecutive year voluntarily installed related posters in this regard throughout the streets of Paris. These posters include images of 12 regime leaders identified as enemies of press freedom. Khamenei is amongst the 12 such figures whose images were seen in these posters.

“Iran is ranked 169^th in this year’s annual RSF report. 38 journalists are currently behind bars in Iran,” was the text describing Khamenei’s image.

This poster also explains how journalists in Iran are interrogated, tortured and accused of charges such as espionage.

Did “elections” change anything?

Reports and pictures taken from last Friday’s elections in Iran negate that it was really an election day. Many polling stations were seen empty at different hours of the day. No long queues were formed.  It was just another Friday in Tehran and other cities. As it was expected these elections did not stir much in the Iranian people, leaving many polling stations close to empty. Ayatollahs’ threatening words did not work this time. Just a few days before the “elections”  Khamenei's religious decrees (fatwas) to say that participating in elections is a religious obligation, blank ballots violate Sharia law, meant that boycotting the elections could bring severe  consequences. Nevertheless the turnout was very low.

Iranian people’s message in elections: Our vote = regime overthrow

The Iranian people did not welcome the February 26^th sham elections and according to live reports from many polling stations, voting came to an end on Friday in a cold and spiritless atmosphere of intense security measures. Despite all the advertisement and various camps pouring money and investing efforts to lure people to the polls, which of course has roots in an obvious and growing power struggle amongst the ruling brass, state officials were extremely nervous throughout the day of any possible protest.

This year’s elections in Iran, like those in the past, was the scene of a total religious dictatorship imposing its hegemony as if it were blessed with credibility from God, forever to come.

Iran: clashes between heads of factions hours before sham elections

Iranian regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei used his last chance before Iran’s elections farce lashing out at Expediency Council chief Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and unprecedentedly terming him as “enemy of the revolution”. Khamenei once again referred to the “penetration” crisis and said, “One has to repent when the enemy (a reference to Rafsanjani and Iranian regime president Hassan Rouhani) praises you.”

Internal disputes flaring in Iran on the verge of elections

Iranian regime leader Ali Khamenei warned the government of President Hassan Rouhani of any shenanigans during the upcoming elections set for February 26^th.

“Government officials should not get involved in election propaganda and the newspapers,” he said.

“When elections are opened for all, the country and Islamic republic is honored and insured,” Khamenei wrote in his website after disqualifying more than 95% of Rouhani-Rafsanjani faction candidates.
