Iran: political prisoners in Evin Prison harassed by regime elements

Ruhollah Tavasoli, commander of the Bassij paramilitary forces in Evin Prison and head of ward 7 in this facility, had drug smugglers placed into hall 12 and ordered them to be in charge of their rooms. He was seeking to insult the political prisoners and gain information about conditions inside the hall. Tavasoli had hired these drug smugglers and informants in an attempt to also humiliate political prisoners.

These measures are all orchestrated by Tavasoli and Mehrdad Tahmasebi, the so-called lawyer of hall 12, who are both agents of the Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS/VEVAK) representative in Evin Prison. Mehrdad Tahmasebi himself is a prisoner behind bars for fraud. Back when Ali Ashraf Rashidi was warden and the MOIS/VEVAK agent of Evin Prison, Tahmasebi was missioned to station in hall 12 along with a number of financial prisoners in order to act as informants and humiliate the political prisoners by describing them as spies and traitors to the country and establishment.
