Inhumane ruling in Iran: man to be blinded with acid injection

The second eye of a prison by the name of Mojtaba Saheli is scheduled to be blinded next week in Gohardasht Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran, according to a ruling issued by the Iranian regime’s so-called judiciary.

Saheli, jailed in Gohardasht Prison since 2009 and sentenced to 10 years behind bars, lost his first eye through acid injection on March 3^rd, 2015. Mohammad Shahriari, deputy public prosecutor in the mullahs’ regime, was present when the ruling was carried out. He currently cannot pay for the diya, or blood money. He has been informed he will lose his second eye next week through acid injection.

Images of Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei has been posted in the streets of Paris as press freedom enemy #1.

Marking ‘Press Freedom Day’, Reporters Sans Frontiers launched a campaign on Tuesday, May 3^rd condemning regimes oppressing press and media freedoms.

A French graphic company has for the fifth consecutive year voluntarily installed related posters in this regard throughout the streets of Paris. These posters include images of 12 regime leaders identified as enemies of press freedom. Khamenei is amongst the 12 such figures whose images were seen in these posters.

“Iran is ranked 169^th in this year’s annual RSF report. 38 journalists are currently behind bars in Iran,” was the text describing Khamenei’s image.

This poster also explains how journalists in Iran are interrogated, tortured and accused of charges such as espionage.

“Some people may think that art cannot express protest or it cannot be so important… But I believe, an artist’s responsibility is to challenge and be challenged.

When you are being challenged, the price may be very heavy. It may be prison or many other things… However, we must remember that every artist has a mission,” said Atena Farghdani, the young artist as walked out of jail. 

Ms. Faraghdani spent 18 months in prison for exercising freedom of expression and painting cartoons critical of the government.

Mr. Gérard Deprez, Head of the Friends of a Free Iran at the European Parliament, wrote to EU High representative on Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, before her trip to Iran on April 12, 2016, and asked for Ms. Faraghdani's release.

Iran: Not having $100 needed to be hospitalized, a man attempts suicide

Numerous Iranian state-media outlets have reported a heartbreaking story on April 30 of a 45-year-old man committing suicide in a Tehran hospital. He had suffered extreme stomach pains yet was not accepted into the hospital as his insurance booklet had expired and he didn’t have the less than $100 cash needed to be hospitalized. As he continued to suffer from his excruciating pains he threw himself off the third floor and is currently in a coma. This man is married and has two children under the age of 10.

The state-run Hamshahri daily wrote on April 30 that this incident took place last Friday in Tehran’s Milad Hospital. Ali Shafie entered the hospital asking for medical care while suffering from extreme pain, eyewitnesses reported.

Instead of sending them to schools to receive the education they need, they are provided various military trainings, how to use an assault rifle and even fire a rocket-propelled grenade. This includes children under the age of 10. For what unconventional battlefronts are these children being trained for? In what country lies the root of Daesh’s expansion and growth throughout the Middle East and across the globe?

Unprecedented inaction seen from Western countries in the face of crimes in Syria

Iran- Denial of Adequate Medical Treatment to Political Prisoners Unacceptable

GENEVA– A group of United Nations human rights experts today warned that over a dozen political prisoners in Iran , including some prominent human rights defenders, lawyers and political activists, are at risk of death in detention due to their worsening health conditions and the continued refusal by the Iranian authorities to provide them with medical treatment.
