A young man in the Shahriar district of Tehran hanged himself, state-run media in Iran reported on Sunday, February 28^th.

According to this report this 28-year-old man hanged himself from a residential building’s balcony while his hand and feet were in chains.

Street vendor in Tehran sets himself ablaze

A hardworking Iranian selling goods on Tehran’s Jomhouri Avenue was viciously attacked by state police, based on a report and video footage posted on the Internet.

This street vendor, by the name of Amir, set himself ablaze afterwards as a sign of protest.

People at the scene were shocked of this tragedy and began putting out the flames. Amir was taken to Tehran’s Mottahari Hospital. There is no information on the conditions of this man and this incident has taken place on the verge of the Iranian calendar year.

A growing number of poor and deprived people in Iran are resorting to selling goods on the street, hoping to make a small amount of money to barely make ends meet for their families.

Regime bans activist from leaving Iran for medical treatment

Tehran, February 25^th – Former Tehran University dean Dr. Mohammad Malaki has continued his efforts to gain a passport to exit Iran for medical treatment. However, he has been told he is banned from departing Iran.

After Dr. Malaki’s follow-ups he was finally told the Revolutionary Guards has banned him from leaving the country. According to Dr. Malaki’s friends no specific government body is providing any answers on why he has been banned from leaving the country. The Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS/VEVAK) is depriving this human rights activist from receiving any medical care.

Iranian people’s message in elections: Our vote = regime overthrow

The Iranian people did not welcome the February 26^th sham elections and according to live reports from many polling stations, voting came to an end on Friday in a cold and spiritless atmosphere of intense security measures. Despite all the advertisement and various camps pouring money and investing efforts to lure people to the polls, which of course has roots in an obvious and growing power struggle amongst the ruling brass, state officials were extremely nervous throughout the day of any possible protest.

This year’s elections in Iran, like those in the past, was the scene of a total religious dictatorship imposing its hegemony as if it were blessed with credibility from God, forever to come.

Iran: people tearing up candidates’ posters in Tehran on 1st day of elections campaign

The few number of agents verified by the Iranian regime to take part in the upcoming sham twin elections began their campaigning on Sunday, February 21^st by posting their posters and pictures across Tehran and other cities. However, a short while later people were seen caring less about the elections and paying no attention at all, reports from the Iranian capital indicate.

“People are passing by these posters without paying any attention at all. There are so many posters posted on the walls that are seen torn apart and lying on the ground,” one Iranian citizen said.

According to reports received from inside Iran during the past month over 100 metal stores in various parts of Tehran have closed in protest to tax extortion and market recession.

In various provinces across the country metal store owners are suffering from similar conditions and many such storeowners have sought other occupations.

A group of friends and supporters of political prisoner Mohammad Ali Taheri held gatherings and protest rallies in the cities of Mashhad and Gorgan expressing their solidarity with this Iranian regime dissident.

They held their gatherings while raising placards in support of Taheri who is on hunger strike in jail. The protesters were seen demanding Taheri’s unconditional release.

Iran: storeowners, Shapoor bazaar merchants on strike in Tehran

Storeowners and Shapoor bazaar merchants went on strike at around 9am on Tuesday, February 16^th, protesting state agents’ interference in their affairs. These storeowners were especially angry at tax agents.

According to one storeowner they had coordinated to close at 9 am to prevent any tax agents from entering their stores.

Tehran – On Tuesday, February 16^th, youths welcomed stores beginning to sell items needed for the annual “Fire Festivities” celebrated on the last Tuesday night of the Iranian calendar year. A short while later police learned that firecrackers were being sold and attempted to attack their stores.

Tehran: Mohammad Ali Taheri in Hunger strike

News received from Tehran indicates that followers of political prisoner, Mohammad Ali Taheri, have started a hunger strike since Friday Feb. 12^th.  Hunger strike is in response to the regime’s indifference to the grave health conditions of Mohammad Ali Taheri. Mr. Taheri himself has recently started a dry hunger strike and has been transferred to the hospital.

After few days Ali Taheri returned back to prison, while continuing his wet hunger strike.

People in Tehran took the Feb. 11^th march as more of a joke. There was not a single place where one could see an organized group actually marching and marking this day. This march had literally turned into a carnival for people who had no other place to go.

The entire crowd was estimated at less than one million people. All the streets and city squares were nearly empty, whereas the regime had rallied people from cities across the country.

Tehran – Memorial ceremony for Martyr Mohammad Mokhtari

Mohammad Mokhtari was killed by Iranian regime’s repressive guards in the 2009 uprising.

His family and friends along with some of the families of other martyrs of 2009 mass uprising against Mullahs regime attended at his tomb at Tehran’s t Behest Zahra cemetery and honored his memory.
