Average age for women drug addicts, in Iran, is now under 27

An official in the Ministry of interior in Rouhani’s government has confessed that the average age of women addicted to drugs in Iran is now lower than 27. She has said that the main reason for drug addiction is the lack of proper recreations.

Speaking on Monday Feb. 1st, Farahmandpoor, a deputy in Iran’s ministry of interior said, “Drug addiction was once a men’s detriment and was very rare among women, but today 9 to 11 per cent of drug addicts are women.

Informing that unemployment among women is twice that of men in Iran Farahmandpoor added, “while women- with one third of them young- constitute half of our society, the recreation and sport opportunities are not fairly divided”.
