Suppression of Journalists continues in Iran
despite Rouhani’s promises.
In a
statement issued on Monday Feb. 1st “Reporters without Borders”
announced,” Despite all the promises made by Rouhani, conditions of journalists
have not changed comparing to what it was before him. Since Rouhani came to
office, 11 newspapers have been locked up and at least 50 active journalists
arrested, some given long imprisonments.
“Reporters
without Border” is warning of the possibility of new pressures to intimidate
the Iranian journalist on the verge of the elections. The organization also
informed of the continuance of internet censorship in Iran.
“Reporters Without Borders” has reminded
the German Foreign minister , who is planning to travel to Iran, that censorship of the media has become routine in
Iran, leaving many journalists in jail some in danger of losing their lives.
