Australian officials have decided to return Iranian refugees there back to Iran. Australian government announced that this decision was taken after a new deal was reached with Iranian regime.
During the past decades many Iranians have fled their country for fear of being arrested, tortured or even executed.

At the new session of U.N. Human Rights Council, now underway in Geneva, Ahmed Shaheed, U.N. special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran is presenting a report that highlights abuses including a 20-year high in executions – almost 1,000 in 2015 – a “widening crackdown on freedom of expression and opinion,” and mistreatment of religious minorities such as Baha’i and Christian converts from Islam.

The Australian - Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has been accused by many, Including Australian human rights activists, of turning “a blind eye” to Iran’s human rights abuses in her efforts to repatriate thousands of rejected asylum-seekers.
