Iran: Kurdistan people boycott regime’s Feb. 11 ceremony

On Thursday, February 11th marking 37th anniversary of the 1979 revolution in Iran that toppled the Shah’s regime. Prior to this day regime officials, Friday prayer imams and especially Revolutionary Guards commanders in Kurdistan had in the past few weeks resorted to ridiculous remarks describing this year’s anniversary as “epic” and … inviting the people of Kurdistan to take part in the government ceremonies.

However, Kurdistan locals, especially those in the city of Sanandaj, boycotted all ceremonies held in this regard. Regime officials refused to admit to their failures and instead began ballooning the number of people who they claimed took part in these events.
The state-run Fars news agency, linked to the Revolutionary Guards, sought to cloak this humiliating show for the regime and held interviews with various senior officials in Kurdistan to depict the entire event as a victory for the regime.
However, it is worth noting that the entire fiasco was so embarrassing for the regime that the Fars news agency has not been able to wire even a single report from Kurdistan in this regard.

Other state-run news agencies such as Mehr, Tasnim and ISNA forged pictures in their reports wired in Kurdistan Province only, depicting the event as if the people of Kurdistan actually welcomed the ridiculous fiasco.
