Fear
in Iran’s parliament
Sunday
Feb. 7th - A survey among different trends of people in Tehran and
some other cities show that less than
%50 of the qualified voters are estimated to participate in Iran’s Feb. 26th elections.
A
young merchant in Tehran’s bazaar said, “With all the atrocities they have
done, people have no tendency to vote. They want the people to vote for those
they have already appointed. Participation rate in Tehran will be less than
%50.”
A
university graduate from the central city of Kerman said, “Most of the people
are unhappy with the government. Many of the candidates are disqualified which
makes people refrain from voting. Therefore the maximum participation will be
%40 “.
A
professor at Sannadaj University in Kurdistan said, “Nobody is in the mood of
voting. Except those who either are candidates’ family members or have some
financial benefits with the government, no ordinary or academic person will
take part in the elections”. He estimated that the most optimistic rate of
participation in the elections in Kurdistan will be 45 to 50 per cent”.
