Political prisoner Afsheen Sohrabzadeh is suffering from intestinal cancer
and three months he was transferred from Minab Prison (southern Iran) to Tehran
for treatment. However, he was returned without receiving any medical care. Due
to his cancer and internal bleeding this political prisoner is facing the
threat of losing his life.
“On Tuesday, January 19th they transferred my son again to the
Minab (exile) prison after three months to take his life there,” said Zibe
Babasafari, the mother of this political prisoner.
Afsheen’s mother has warned about his son’s imminent death and holding responsible
Khamenei and all those who prevented him from receiving medical care and leave.
“It has been around three years that each day we are sent from the
Kamiyaran prosecutor’s office to Sanandaj, and from there to Minab and again to
Kamiyaran for them to agree with my son’s medical leave. If this trend
continues it will mean my son will face a slow death,” she added.
Afsheen is from the city of Kermanshah, western Iran, and was arrested by
security and intelligence agents in the city of Kamiyaran on June 8th,
2010. He was sentenced to endure 25 years in prison in exile in Minab prison
that is hundreds of miles to the south. In March 2012 he was exiled from
Sanadaj Central Prison to Minab Prison. This prisoner had once attempted to
commit suicide on July 2nd, 2012 protesting inhumane conditions in
Minab Prison and his exile from Sanandaj to this southern city.
