Iran’s population is suffering from mental disorders
More than
23% of Iran’s population is suffering from mental disorders, said director
general of the Psychological Health Bureau in Iran’s Health Ministry.
“Social
disorders today is one of the most important health problems faced in our
society, and currently based on pathologic reports around 23.6% of the
country’s population is suffering from some type of mental disorder,” said
Ahmad Hajebi, taking part in inaugurating ceremony of a mental center in the
city of Ghouchan.
“… Pathology
reviews conducted amongst the population from 15 to 64 years of age in this
country shows around 12.5 million are suffering from such problems. In the
first year of plans to tackle this problem only 4.2 million people were able to
take advantage of the services provided,” he added, referring to the spread of
mental disorders.
