Iran – ignominy for the state run television

A move by Iran NTV to pretend that Iranian people are in favor the elections failed and rather turned into a scandal for the Mullahs. On Sunday Feb. 21st Iranian state TV send its reporter to Tehran’s Azadi Square to ask people‘s opinion about the elections. More than %90 of the youths interviewed said they would not take part in the elections. They argued that poverty, corruption and devastated economy of the country leave no unwillingness to voting.  In response to people criticizing the government once the reporter said, “your answers will not be aired on TV”.

Except two persons who said they would vote, others interviewed made comments such as, “everything has got worse each year in the past 37 years”, “None of the candidates work for people, they are only concerned about themselves”, or “I will not vote any more”. In response to the reporter calling people, who were passing by, to come forward and speak many said, “No, you won’t broadcast our words “.
When, later, two Swiss reporters came, the state TV reporter impeded them from talking to people. A few who could speak English managed to sneak nearer ant talk to the Swiss repowers.

It seems that %80 of the people will not vote at all, %10 others are uncertain to vote or not. One person said ,” candidates work for their pockets, not for people”
